My crazy weekend

So, Maggie's birthday party was last night. Complete success! Although I must admit, I didn't think it would be while I was decorating her cake on Thursday night! First it fell apart, so we used toothpicks, then the icing WOULD NOT TURN BLACK! Even after using an entire thing of black dye, and the a whole thing of brown...it was gray. Dora can NOT have gray hair. Jon was on his way home from a concert and had to stop at Wal-Mart to get more back dye( if anyone needs to dye icing black, start with chocolate icing first) If Swiper had shown up, I would have let him do his thing. Jon had had an allergic reaction to something at the concert and was awake all night. He slept until almost ten in the morning even when maggie was yelling through an empty wrapping paper tube, "Hey, You wan yo coffee? Hey!" Anyway, He finally woke up and we worked like crazy all day. We had such fun! We ate a potluck dinner, colored Dora pages to laminate into placemats, Did a scavenger hunt, with picture clues that we taped onto "the map". We ended up at a whole Dora land, we had a pinata, a hanging swiper next to her, (I made the children say "Swiper no swiping!" a little Dora house, hanging stars, balloons, it was great! We then opened presents, and had cake and ice cream. A thoroughly satisfying evening.
Here are some pictures.
